Big 7 Quad at Hiawatha

Nemaha Central had their BIG 7 Quad at Hiawatha on Tuesday, April 7th. Schools that participated were Perry-Lecompton, Sabetha, Nemaha Central & Hiawatha. In the 100 meter dash, taking second place was Jenna Macke, jr., fourth place went to Allison Rottinghaus, fr., and sixth place went to Angela Holthaus, fr.,. Shiann Kramer, soph., placed second in the 200 meter dash, Payton Wise, soph., placed eighth, and Kylie Helmer, soph., finished in ninth. Angela Holthaus, fr., placed second in the 400 meter dash, Sara Kuckelman, fr., placed fourth, and Bailey Liby, fr., finished in sixth. Mikayla Peterson, sr., placed third in the 800 meter run and Reilly Haverkamp, fr., finished in eighth. The lady Thunder had seven people place in the 100 meter hurdles this included Rachael Baumgartner, jr., who placed first, Shiann Kramer, soph., in second, Maggie Hammes, soph., in third, Allison Rottinghaus, fr., in fourth, Laura Macke, fr., in sixth, Kelsey Schmitz, jr., in seventh, and Bailey Liby, fr., in ninth. The top three placers in the 300 meter hurdles were Rachael Baumgartner, jr., in first, Jenna Macke, jr., in second, and Maggie Hammes, soph., in third. Nemaha Central Girls placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay. The ladies 4x400 team took third place.

In field events, Laura Macke, fr., placed second in high jump, Sara Kuckelman, fr., placed fourth, and Angela Holthaus, fr., placed fifth.. Rachael Baumgartner, jr., took first in pole vault, and Laura Macke, fr., took second. Samantha Wessel, sr., placed third in long jump, and Angela Holthaus, fr., placed fourth. Samantha Wessel, sr., placed second in triple jump, Jenna Macke, jr., in third, Allison Rottinghaus,fr., in fourth, and Kelsey Schmitz, jr., in sixth. Shaylyn Stallbaumer, sr., placed first in shot put, in third place was Kaley Dalinghaus, soph., and tenth place went to Lydia Meyer, fr.,. Kaley Dalinghaus, soph., placed second in discus. Shaylyn Stallbaumer, sr., placed second in javelin, in fifth was Kaley Dalinghaus, soph.,.

The varsity boys also had success. The Thunder boys had five people place in the 100 meter dash. Placing first was Jacob Koelzer, soph., Luke Haverkamp, fr., placed second, Brandon Haverkamp, soph., placed fifth, Alec Suther, fr., placed sixth, Devon Siess, soph., placed eighth. Luke Haverkamp, fr., also placed first in the 200 meter dash, and Alex Haug, fr., placed seventh. Colin Lierz, sr., placed third in the 800 meter run, and Jordan Peterson, fr., finished in sixth place. Lierz also placed second in the 1600 meter run, followed by Zach Buessing, fr., in seventh. In the 3200 meter run, Mikeal Sperfslage, sr., placed second. Nemaha Central’s boys relays finished third in the 4x100 meter relay, fourth in the 4x400 meter relay, and third in the 4x800 meter relay.

Outside of running events, the boys’ team finished strong. Abe Elder, sr., placed second in high jump, following him was Brandon Haverkamp, soph., in third, Zach Heiman, fr., in fourth, Luke Haverkamp, fr., in fifth, and Devon Siess, soph., in seventh. Caleb Bradley, jr., placed first once again in pole vault, Caleb Henry, fr., placed fourth, Brandon Haverkamp, soph., placed fifth, and Zach Buessing. fr,. placed seventh. The top four placers in long jump were Jacob Koelzer, soph., in first, Abe Elder, sr., in fourth, Brandon Haverkamp, soph., in seventh, and Alec Suther, fr., in eighth. Abe Elder, sr., placed first in triple jump. Bryant Stallbaumer, fr., placed fifth in shot put, Matt Feldkamp, fr., placed seventh, and Dalton Uphaus, fr., placed eighth. Jakob Reitz, jr., placed sixth in discus. Bryant Stallbaumer, fr., placed seventh in javelin.
