The winter sports kicked off with the annual pep rally on Thursday, November 30. The pep rally started with Coach Cory Bass saying a couple of words about the boys’ first game and how they are doing as a team. Coach Bass introduced the assistant coaches, Todd Krause and Nate Beck. Next, he called the entire boys basketball team and manager down to the front of the student body. Coach Bass said that they will be a good team this year and he stressed how there is a lot of competition between each and every one of them. Next, the players introduced themselves.

Following the presentation of the boy's team, the girls' basketball coaches came down to talk about their team.  Coach Heather Sullivan and her assistant coach Laura Sudbeck talked about how the girls have been doing really good with their drills in practice. Coach Sullivan then called the girl basketball players and managers down so they could introduce themselves. After they all introduced themselves, Savannah Engelken said that it would be very nice if everybody in the stands would come and cheer them on at their game tonight.

After the presentation of the teams, the cheerleaders called down the A-team starters for the boys and the girl's team and their coaches. Each person was challenged to shoot free throws blindfolded. They all missed them by a lot except for Mr. Bass, whose ball hit the rim and almost went in. The pep rally ended with the V-I-C-T-O-R-Y cheer. Everybody was extremely loud, however, the third grade ended up winning the spirit stick.

“The pep rally was really fun and exciting,” said Ryan Lueger.

Lillian Engelken said, ”I also liked when they put the blindfolds on the A-Team starters and they tried to shoot a free throw.”
