The buses were ready to head to Onaga on Monday, December 18 for the Nemaha Central Middle School Lady Thunder’s fourth basketball game against the Buffalos. This game was the second away game of the season for the Lady Thunder. The Thunder recently coming off losses on both A-team and B-team were ready for a win.

To start off the night for the Thunder girls was the A-team. The Lady Thunder won the tip-off and Addy Holthaus drove in and scored. The Thunder team continued a great offense with Ella Larkin scoring 12 points in the first quarter. The exceptional defense was also a factor in the game as the Thunder team was up in the first half 17 to 7. The Thunder didn't let up in the second half. The Thunder girls scored several points in the second half by making shots and feeding the post players. The Thunder offense wasn't the only reason they won, it was the defense that held the Buffalos to 17 points in all. The Thunder girls won the game with an amazing 36 to 17 score.

"We worked hard and stayed strong," said Rachel Schmitz.

Next up, was the B-team girls game. They were ready to feed off of the A-team’s success and get their first win of the season. The Lady Thunder played an amazing zone defense in the first half holding Onaga to 7 points while scoring 11 themselves. The Thunder came out after halftime looking for their first win. The Thunder did not let up and continued to score several baskets. The Thunder team was able to get the victory and to top it off with a last second 3 pointer by Keirsten Huerter. The Thunder B-team got their first win of the season with a 24-11 victory over the Buffalos.

"I had fun and we played well," said Kaylee Finney.
