The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School hosted its annual Muffins for Mom’s Celebration on Friday, May 4. This event is held in connection with Mother’s Day, which celebrates mothers and grandmothers throughout the world. The celebration allows students to come in early and enjoy a muffin and a cup of juice with their mother. If their mother was not able to attend than another family member could come with them. Many mothers and grandmothers attended the event on the warm and sunny May morning.

The muffins that were eaten were baked by Sweet Pea’s Bakery and were donated by State Farm Insurance. Tom Hilbert of State Farm Insurance not only provided the muffins but also the napkins and cups for the event. The NCEMS staff also helped with the cost for this celebration throughout the year by paying money to wear jeans on home game days. Darcel Stallbaumer, Laurie Niehues, Amy Larkin, and Carol Sack headed the event and helped pass out muffins and drinks to everyone in attendance.

Garrett Huerter said, “The muffins were really good and I enjoyed this time with my mother.”

“It was fun, I enjoyed eating muffins with my mom,” Carter Luckett, a first grader, exclaimed.
