The Nemaha Central fifth grade classes were ready to leave right when they arrived at school excited for an amazing and adventurous trip to the Omaha Zoo on Thursday, September 27. The school sponsors on the field trip were their teachers, Ms. Heather Sullivan, and Mrs. Lisa Holthaus. While at the zoo students had fun visiting the exhibits which include: Asian Highlights, African Grassland, Alaskan Adventures, Bay Family Children’s Adventure Trails, Dick and Mary Holland Meadowlark Theater, Desert Dome, Kingdoms of the Night, Lied Jungle, Aquarium, Berniece Grewcock Butterfly and Insect Pavilion, Expedition Madagascar, Gorilla Valley, Orangutan Forest, Sea Lion Pavilion, and a few others.

The students had many exciting experiences! Students went through the Desert Dome, a dome that is enclosed and has all types of animals and plants that live in very hot conditions. People passed through the aquarium where you walk through a tunnel made of glass and see all types of sea life! Skyfari, which is a ski-lift type ride over the whole zoo was a favorite by many students. Students also went through Lied Jungle a rainforest theme exhibit where there was even a waterfall! One of the most exciting experiences they had was petting the stingrays at Stingray Beach. The students had a great time and they hope that the next class will enjoy some of the same experience they did.

Chariss Fritz said, “ I think that it was cool to see all the animals that you don’t get to see very often.”

“The field trip was amazing!” said Jayden Seitz.
