”We’re getting fired up,” is what the Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team was feeling as they entered the gym for the pep rally on Monday, October 15. The cheerleaders started the pep rally with a cheer. Dr. Beck said a few things about the Lady Thunder’s first basketball game. Dr. Beck turned it over to Coach Sullivan. Coach Sullivan asked all of the basketball girls and the managers to come down and be recognized.

Next, the basketball girls and coaches participated in a game. The girls were split up into 3 teams with a coach on each team. The coaches were Coach Sullivan, Coach Laura Steinlage, and fill in Coach Bethany Griffith. Each coach put a shower cap on their head and it was topped off with shaving cream. The basketball girls had to stand behind a line and throw cheese balls into the shaving creamed shower cap. Whichever team got the most cheese balls to stick in the shaving cream shower cap would win. At the end of the game, the girls dumped the whole bucket full of cheese balls on their coaches’ heads. The cheerleaders ended the pep rally with the traditional V-I-C-T-O-R-Y cheer. The class that won the spirit stick was the third grade and they will have it until the next pep rally. The pep rally ended as the cheerleaders spread spirit while the students went back to their classrooms. It was another great NC pep rally!

"I thought the pep rally was very fun and exciting. My favorite part overall was getting to throw cheese balls at the basketball coaches and getting to see the coaches in shower caps," said Lacie Young.

"It was very exciting to know that girls basketball is underway," said Kace Kramer.
