On Thursday, February 14, the Nemaha Central Elementary School students had their Valentine Parties. These parties consisted of games, snacks, and the students passing out Valentines to their classmates. The Nemaha Central Parent-Teacher Organization helped organize and lead the parties for preschool through fifth grade.

Several games with a Valentine theme were played in the classrooms. An example of one of the games they played was called Heart Balancing. For this game, you need candy hearts and popsicle sticks. The students had to put a popsicle stick in their mouth and start stacking candy hearts on it to see how many they could balance.

Another game the classes played was unwrapping Hershey Kisses. The students would put on oven mitts and start unwrapping a Hershey Kiss and when they finished they would high five a buddy in their group. Other classes played bean bag tic-tac-toe and some decorated cookies. The games varied depending on classes. The students definitely enjoyed getting to have a party and playing games with their fellow classmates.

“We played Valentine Day Charades and got lots of candy. It was a very fun day,” said Mykal Novotny.
