NCMS Scholars' Bowl Team Competes at Riverside

    On Monday, February 26, the NCMS Scholars’ Bowl Team traveled to Riverside for their second scholars'  bowl meet of the season. The 8th-grade Team 1 lost their first round 20-50 to Perry-Lecompton Team 1 . They also suffered a defeat in round two, 35-60 to Jeff West Team 1, but round three the NC Team 1 got a victory 90-20 against Riverside Team 1. In their bracket play, they won their first game 40-35 to the other Nemaha Central 8th-grade Team 2 and lost the championship round 50-55 to Perry-Lecompton Team 2. Overall, they got 2nd place.

    In round one for the 8th-grade Team 2, they got a victory 60-40 against Perry-Lecompton Team 2 . In the second round, they also pulled out a team victory 90-30 against Jeff West Team 2, they were also victorious in their last round against Riverside Team 2, 80-30. In their bracket play, they lost their first round to their classmates on the Nemaha Central 8th-grade Team 1, 35-40. However, they came through with a victory in the consolation round,  95-20 against Perry-Lecompton to earn third place.

    "The meet was fun. I enjoyed getting to play against different schools," said Dylann Grauer.

    The 7th-grade Team 1 started off strong winning their first round to Perry-Lecompton Team 1, 60-50 after a tiebreaker question to decide the win. They also got the win in the second round to Jeff West Team 1, 60-30. Sadly, they were defeated in a tight game in the third round to Riverside Team 1, 40-50. In the bracket play they lost their first game to the Nemaha Central Team 2, 40-50. They also got defeated in their next game against Perry-Lecompton Team 2, 20-70. The 7th-grade Team 1 placed 4th overall.

    The 7th-grade Team 2 got their first win of the night against Perry-Lecompton Team 2, 60-40 in the first round. After their first win, they kept the streak going winning the next round against Jeff West Team 2, 70-30. They also got the win in the third round against Riverside Team 2 100-10. In the bracket play, they started off strong getting a win against their classmates, Nemaha Central Team 1, 50-40. After that round, they played for 1st and won 75-35 against Perry-Lecompton Team 1. 

    "I think our team played well together," said John Langill.
