The Nemaha Central Middle School seventh and eighth graders attended the Topeka Symphony on Thursday, April 4. The symphony was held at the Topeka Performing Arts Center and the conductor this year was Kyle Wiley Pickett. The chaperones for this trip were Mr. Todd Krause, Mrs. Chelsey Haverkamp, Mrs. Laurie Stallbaumer, Ms.Marge Anderson, and Mr. Cory Bass.

The musical pieces that they performed took us to two different locations for romance and wedding ceremonies. The Orkney Islands off the coast of Scotland and a small village in rural Pennsylvania were the settings for the music.

The performance lasted around 45 minutes and was truly amazing. For many students, this was the first time they had experienced going to a symphony. Afterward, the students went to Golden Corral and had a great lunch. Overall this was a great experience for both the students and the teachers.

“It was fun and really exciting. The music was excellent,” said Katie Wilson.
